Anti-Rattle Hitch Tightener

The GEN-Y Anti-Rattle Hitch Tightener (SKU GH-102229) is a steel, bolt-on clamp that tightens down on your hitch's shank to eliminate rattle and play inside your truck's receiver tube. It's available for 2 inch, 2.5 inch, and 3 inch receivers, and its bolts should be torqued to approximately 20 foot-pounds.

This tightener bolts onto the outside of your receiver tube and clamps down against the shank inside it, removing the small amount of play that causes rattling and clunking between the receiver and the hitch. It is not compatible with a reducer sleeve, since a reducer sleeve already fills that same gap with a different fix, so use one solution or the other rather than combining them.

If your hitch feels loose or clunks when accelerating, braking, or going over bumps even though the hitch pin is properly seated, that looseness usually comes from normal manufacturing tolerance in the receiver-to-shank fit, not a defect, and this tightener is designed specifically to remove it.

Installation is a simple bolt-on job: position the tightener over the receiver, then torque the bolts to approximately 20 foot-pounds. Use a torque wrench rather than tightening by feel, since under-tightening won't fully remove the rattle and over-tightening can stress the receiver tube. Recheck the torque after your first few trips, since normal use can seat the components slightly.
