The GEN-Y Hammer Strap (SKU GH-039) is a steel hitch attachment built around a 1.25 inch pin instead of a ball, rated for 16,000 pounds towing and 1,600 pounds tongue weight on a 2 inch shank, or 21,000 pounds towing on a 2.5 inch shank.
Unlike a ball mount, the hammer strap connects through its 1.25 inch pin hole to a clevis, lunette ring, or pintle-style coupler, so it works well for farm equipment, grain carts, and other implements that use a clevis or pin connection instead of a ball coupler. Reviewers have used it to tow long grain augers and other heavy farm equipment behind one-ton trucks.
It's available in a 2 inch shank rated for 16,000 pounds towing and 1,600 pounds tongue weight, and a 2.5 inch shank rated for 21,000 pounds towing. Match the shank size to your truck's receiver opening before ordering, and add a 5/8 inch replacement hitch pin at checkout if you need a spare for the connection point.
GEN-Y fabricates the hammer strap from steel and manufactures it in the USA. It weighs 22 pounds and carries GEN-Y's lifetime limited warranty. The hammer strap is sandblasted and finished in a durable powder coat for corrosion resistance.
GEN-Y also offers a custom powder coat color option for this hammer strap, with a 6 to 8 week lead time and an added cost. That option applies only to the strap itself, not any ball mount, pintle lock, stabilizer bars, or brackets you pair with it, and GEN-Y currently can't offer Polar White as a custom color.
